A Poem Written and for ME!!!!

For the first time in my entire life, someone had actually written a poem for me and guess who wrote it? Ray.... on mother's day 2007. This must be one of the most treasured gifts I'll ever have in my life- it's kinda corny but it's TRUE!
It's untitled though. And here' s our conversation after my overwhelming emotion of gratitude and shock.....

Me Gee, I can sell this poem to a magazine for a fortune
Ray No, you won't
Me why not?
Ray Because I have the Copyright
Me But you've given it to me
Ray Yes I did write it for you , but I own the copyright.
Me OK- as long as when you get rich, can you pay off my mortgage.
Ray Of course.....
end of conversation
there- it's in black and white that he agreed to pay my mortgage ...hahaha! i doubt it...
.....and here's the poem
dear mumbles
i've known you for 17 years of your life
you've known me for all of mine
you've provide me a childhood free of strife
because of you, everyday will shine

we have had altercations in the past
you taught me right from wrong
and for how much longer life will last
i'll always know it was you who made me strong

patient, kind, loving, funny, playful and wise you are
there's nothing as important to me in this world as you
you are my guidance and everything more
because of you I am going to get through.
happy mumbles day!!!
love you forever Ray xoxoxoxoxoxo

Being Busy

Since I attended the Orientation of Ray's (my 17 year old son) school, something really struck me more than anything. His school is an all- boy's school. According to the Activities Dean,- they try to get each and every boy into one or more activities because they believe that 'A BUSY BOY IS A HAPPY BOY'
that's so very true and I could also apply it to myself. I keep myself so busy- joining the house-mothers circle in Ray's school house (a ' house' in a school is like a class section), being the boss of the Social Club at work with nearly 100 members keep me busy even during my lunch hour. I can't say exactly that I'm happy because I got thrown into this role- the leader transferred to another section and I was just next in line. But hey....i've turned it around and it's thriving more than when it was with someone. Plus i do get the credits for all my efforts unlike before when my ideas were simply ignored. Now- i could see some of my ideas being put into action. So I guess, I'm happy.
At home I keep busy with the non-ending housework, cooking, grocery but i also bought 2 beautiful photo albums... i plan to update my albums with our travel photos and also start on a scrapbook.
A busy MUM is a happy BUM oooops...Mum....have a great week ahead of you

My son the future rockstar or roadster?

Here is an extract of an eventful day in the life of Ray as a touring rockstar of his high school rock band #1. Photos were from his old high school where he was and still is a celebrity. I uploaded this from his website.

Thursday 26th April. - Emerald
We didn’t check out today as we were staying in the Midlander Motel for 2 nights. Total costs for all 15 of us staying in this motel was $800 per night. It was a 4 star motel and it was awesome. Had a nice pool area. Gig #6 was at St Patrick’s School after their assembly. We sat through an ANZAC ceremony where The Last Post was played by one of their students. Assembly and all went for quite a while. Our eagerness to perform built up over such time. When we were finally up on stage our lead singer introduced our band and mentioned how we throw the koala bears and to keep an eye out for them. The principal of that school intervened and told us NOT to throw them out. We’re like… “Okay…”. Gig went quite alright and we threw the koalas out anyway. The next gig in my opinion was the best by far. Emerald State High School. We were all anticipating a complete disaster. We had been doing primary schools up to now and so the thought of a high school (people our own age) somehow struck us all as a mistake. We had no idea of how it was going to turn out. As we were setting up we had people coming up to us and just staring and all. We were doing the sound check and since it was the high school’s lunch hour more and more people came to see what was going on. We ran through Master Blaster for the sound check and when some kid said to me, “You guys are good”, I had a feeling this was gonna be good. I was excited. Very excited. Somehow between the sound check and when we came to the start of our performance the number of spectators tripled. I had a whole group of people around my keyboard. Just sitting around in like a semi-circle around my keyboard, mostly girls by the way. You don’t know how excited I was. We got through our songs with thunderous appaluse and cheers. Last song for rock band #1 was Long Train Runnin, which is like ‘my’ song as I feature as a solo keyboardist. It’s an awesome song and feeling my solo approaching I was so pumped. 4 bars away… 3 bars away… I look up at all these awesome people lookin’ at me… 2 bars away… I’m lovin’ the closeness of the audience… 1 bar away… The solo went over 12 bars and for all 12 of those bars I was somehow possessed, on a natural high. I looked down at my fingers, they were a complete blurr… I must have played 1000’s of notes. Went quite psycho if you like. The appreciation of my solo afterwards was… priceless. Too brilliant! Even greater was, while packing up I was distracted by some very awesome, rather good looking girls to have photos taken with them. Happened like 3 times. Loved it! Felt like a rock star. Had another gig after the high school one, which went great but my mind was still set on the high school. That night we all played a game of rugby. I don’t even play that but I did for the sake of it. Scored like 4 tries. Awesome! I LOVED this day!!!

I really feel doubly happy to know that he is having a great time.

It looks like posting is a monthly event..

NOT...

just so busy lately- I know i've said this a million times but its a great excuse.

It seems that I'll be working overtime every Saturday until the end of June- do i have a choice- indeed I have but I needed the money to pay Ray's tuition...unless I won the Lotto last night...can't even find my ticket.

So much for the ramblings...

Here's my favourite son (bear in mind he's the only one!) on a thursday morning, waiting for the City Express 315 bus at 6:40 am. He's on his way to attend his Rock Band practice at 7 am. So far he hasn't been late yet and has even gone for a tour. He came back today. It's good to know that he has settled in his new school and gets annoyed if I tease him about going back to his old school. Good on him.

Happy Easter to One and All 2007

Kids had grown and still my ones expect some chocolate easter eggs. The Social Club at work gave choco easter rabbits and eggs and Ray is quite happy with those because when we were in Westfield, he asked that instead of buying him choco easter stuff, he just wants the latest edition of the Your Keys to Driving in Queensland. A lot of his friends and classmates have either taken , intended to take, dreaming of taking the learner's license test while some are already learning to drive. Ray said that he is just taking it because nearly everyone else is doing it. He is quite happy walking to and from his destination or getting a lift from people and Mum and Dad of course.

As for Vivs who lives away from home, she called yesterday and in the course of our conversation I asked her if she wants any easter eggs. Your guess is right- she does!. Since I won't be able to see her at Easter as she is on duty, plus i don't have the time to drive all the way to the dark side, i mean the south side (1.5 hrs drive to) I said that I'll just transfer $20 to her account and she and Haines either buy themselves some easter goodies, eat out, or whatever...She's quite happy with that.

By default I am the leader of our own social club with 3 other members. I decided to distribute hot cross buns and cadbury easter eggs to the 100+ staff. We've done well in our Easter Guessing Competition, you see as the tickets had all sold out so I thought of sharing half the profit to those who participated and who didn't (they may participate next time, you see). There were 3 choices to choose from, plain, fruity and choc chip. I thought that many will choose the choc chip but surprise , surprise - most preferred the traditional plain with cinnamon and the fruity one.

The distribution went well despite our business line being scattered around 3 levels (floors to others) in our bldg- the ground, 2nd and 3rd floors. Lisa, my assistant and I managed really well. She was a great help! One funny snag though- we forgot to offer the butter spread for their buns!. I then sent out an email for all to help themselves with the spread located in 1- small kitchen and 2- big kitchen. You know what happened? the one in the big kitchen went missing....when I told Ros about it she said- because your email said ' help yourself' so they thought they can take the whole container for free! haha! I meant for them to use it for free and not to take it home. Never mind, it cost hardly anything as it was the generic brand. I just changed the sticker on the other one and wrote' for everyone's free use' before they get taken home.

It's good Friday today and it's a great sunny day outside. I did my washing then I will continue organising my files at home
MAY EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL EASTER!
